Hello class!
For homework (due Monday, 12/19), please compose a "Letter to the Editor" in response to your classmates' editorials (many of which I have posted on the class web site*). I'd like you to discuss one part of their editorial that you agree with (and WHY) and one part that could have been more convincing (and WHY, what evidence could have been included to make that point better?).
Here's an example. This parts (in parantheses will be your additions/opinions):
"Dear Editor,
I found (name's) editorial on (subject) very (adjective).
I really agree with their point that (what you agree with) because (WHY).
I wasn't really convinced, however, that (what you disagree with). I was left wondering (what you were left wondering) and if the author had included some information on (additional evidence you thought was missing) their point would have been better argued.

*If your editorial didn't appear on the web site, it's either because I didn't receive a final copy yet from you (send to slcarlough@yahoo.com!) or because you hand wrote it using both sides of a loose leaf page, and the text was unreadable upon scanning.

I found Paul's editorial on Scan-In Systems Are Such a Hassle very true. I really agree with his point that we should stop having scanners in out school, because they only bring problems in our school plus they are just waste of time.

I found Nicole's editorial on Abortion very confusing.
I really agree with their point that we shouldn't kill babies because it's just wrong.
I disagree that women/girls should never do abortions. If they got raped by someone, the would probably get an abortion,a dn I think it'll be better for them. My cousin, was just 30 years old when she died on breast cancer. She mainly died because she didn't have an abortion, when her doctor told her to, so she could save herself. So I think abortion IS fine...

I really agree with her point that our school IS overpopulated these days and something needs to be done.

I found Jane's editorial on Smoking is very well written. I really agree with their point that people should stop smoking, because not only they hurt themselves, but they hurt other people as well. If people are smoking, can't quit doing it, they should atleast smoke away from people that don't smoke.

I found ricki's editoral on School Are Overcrowded very interesting.
i agree with their point that alot of school are overcrowded and it's not only bothering students but also teachers because alot of students are really go to school for education. But with the overcrowed students on the hall way their could be late for their class and get yell at by teachers. It's also distract the teacher and class, give teacher a hard time of teaching
i wasn't really convinced, however, that students can't talk one on one with the teacher in a overcrowed class. i was left wondering how we're going to solve this problem and if the author had included some more information on problems that teachers and students have and also suggest how or wat the school district can do to solve the problem, their point would been better argued

After I read Ricki's editorial, I came to an understanding that overcrowded class can really affect our grades in school. I totally agree with her. I personlly have been affect by some of my classes in school. This give teachers lot of problems.

I found Lena Sorns editorial very clean and neat and also I understood it with no difficulties. Other than that the topic was very well picked, however wasn't explaned in a very detailed and clear way. I believe she should of used a more uniformed format for her editorial, although she did a good job and knew which way she was headed she still needed a detailed paragraph to convince aboout her topic. however, It was a very good topic by the way, I agree with her 100% "They should start throwing them out the windows or something" "hehehe"lol!

I found Ricki's editorial on overcrowed schools very interesting. I really agree with her point that we can't concentrate because there are too many people in the classes and that the teachers also get tired of teaching. I'm not sure if she wrote what we should do about the issue though.

Dear Editor,
I found Lan's editorial on SAT to the immigrant students are very unfair.
I really agree with their point that we should have a test that have their languages because they can understand.
I wasn't really convinced, however, that the teachers cant read in their languages. I was left wondering is that will happens.
